WWI German Model 1916 "Spigot Mortar"
On right. 50mm.
Japanese 50mm M98 "Knee Mortar"
Bottom (barrel only) cut off, but ended in a concave piece of metal not unlike a mini-bulldozer blade. Was called a knee mortar, but wasn't fired from the knee (would -- and did -- break legs when Allied troops tried). Had a 700-yard range.
