WWII Societ SU-76 Assault Gun

Impressed with German assault guns, the Soviets atrted their own program in 1942, and accepted for production in December 1942. However, the initial model proved unreliable, and modifications in 1943 produced the SU-76M. Althought outclassed as a tabnk destroyer, it was issued to infantry units for direct fire support. It served throughout the war and then afterwards in the Warsaw Pact.
