An improvement on the original T34, it mounted a bigger gun and thicker armor. Built over the T43 (only prototypes were built) chassis, the T34/85 was essentially the T34/76 mounting a modified 1939 AA gun. Production started January 1944 using the same T34/76 methods--11,000 were manufactured in 1944.
A slightly upgraded version was produced in 1947, and production in Czechoslovakia and Poland only stopped in 1964. The tank was shipped to various allies and buyers around the world. T-34/85s still served in Yugoslavia into the 1990s.
Crew: 5, 85mm gun, 2 MGs, Speed: 34mph, Range: 190 miles.
