WWII French Somua S-35 Tank

SOMUA = Societe d'Outillage Machanique at d'Usinage d'Artillerie. Production started in 1935, but only 430 manufactured (240 in front line units) when Germany invaded France in May 1940. Most were captured and placed into storage. Some converted to other uses, some placed with German police for occupation, and others turned over to Italians. Later, remainder removed from storage and fitted with German radio and used for crew training. Free French forces in North Africa used them in 1943 and after.

Crew: 3. 47mm gun, 1 MG. Speed: 25mph, Range: 143 miles.
