Roads to Falaise

Old Duffer's Book Corner

Ken Tout for Sutton Publishing

Although the book takes as a sub-title “Cobra & Goodwood Reassessed” this is more of the usual Tout stuff: a good account of what it is like to be at the sharp end of combat. In this case in the bocage with US units, and fighting over the Norman plain with UK forces. Tout has no nationalistic hatreds to visit on the Doughboys although I do not think he always cares much from the Staff Officers on either side. As an analytical limited history it is not very good but as anecdotal history it is all too powerful.
