Editor Cliff Rogers for Boydell
This is a very useful mixture of sources (contemporary documents) and analyses of the issues of the wars by recent historians. The sources cover the full range of the Scots and French campaigns. The analyses are of a high quality, especially useful is the editor’s analysis of the strategy of Edward III (he believes chevauchées were battle seeking but equally obliged to seek supply by frequently moving). Single sources for any topic are difficult to recommend. In this case for narrative drive I would recommend the Fontana volume but as the next volume of study this is very impressive.
