MagWeb.com in the News
MagWeb.com was mentioned in the New York Times special war section Saturday, March 29, 2003. Sadly, none of CEO Russ Lockwood's one hour's worth of comments were included, but "dem's da breaks" and I'd rather have the website mentioned. The article was about war information junkies who have been following the war intensively, then congregate and discuss the Gulf War. I said that large gatherings of military history buffs were mostly at regional conventions and conferences, as well as on-line groups/chats, which was not the story they were looking for. I noted that Cold Wars has a speaker/wargame programme, and that the upcoming Origins War College by MagWeb.com in June is exactly the type of venue where speakers meet buffs. Maybe next time...
MagWeb.com and Lockwood provided historical background on historical wars in Iraq for TheStreet.com. The article focused on the financial ramifications of Gulf War II. Read it at: http://www.thestreet.com/markets/aarontaskfree/10077778_4.html
MagWeb.com and Lockwood were also interviewed by the Hartford Courant newspaper for a piece on the ethics of torture. We haven't seen the article, but if it came out as thoughtful as the questions, it should be a good one.
Boy Scout Troop 64 out of Bucks County, PA invited Lockwood to speak about Gettysburg at their monthly meeting. The scouts, most in the 10-14 year age group, are going on a camping trip to the battlefield and wanted some background before they went. Lockwood prepared a four-page briefing newsletter containing a timeline of the main actions with maps.
