Over 5,000 articles!Excuse this pat on the back. MagWeb just passed the 5,000-article mark. And we're not stopping there... No Price Increase for 1998, sort of...
|
Membership Term | 1997 Price | 1998 Price | Per Month Cost |
---|---|---|---|
1 month "Take a Look" | $ 9.95 | $14.95 | $14.95 |
3 month "Trial Period" | $24.95 | $29.95 | $ 9.99 |
6 month "Prime Time" | $39.95 | $44.95 | $ 7.49 |
12 month "Super Value" | $59.95 | $59.95 | $ 4.99 |
That means you can still enjoy MagWeb for under $5 a month. Since we upload at least 10 issues per month (often more), that costs under 50 cents per issue! Of course, when we post more issues, the per issue cost goes down. For example, November had 18 issues posted plus bonus articles, so one-year members' cost comes to just under 28 cents an issue.
So for the approximately 60% of our members who join for a year, 1998 brings no price increase. For the other 40%, well, we are committed to offering flexible membership periods, albeit at a slightly higher rate, and hope we have created such a proven track record of accomplishment, you will want to renew your membership for a one-year period for the greatest value.
We are keeping our promise to our 1996 Charter members--the special charter rates remain in effect for you as long as you maintain your MagWeb membership.

Statistics Don't Lie
In case you were wondering, my techies tell me MagWeb moved almost a half a gigabyte of articles and graphics in November (434MB!) on 53,603 page hits (.htm pages) over the course of 8,495 visits (5,476 actual visitors)! Most of the visitors were over to the free side to see who we are (the Free Sample Article Page was read over 2500 times)...now if we can get these 2500 visitors to join MagWeb, I'm sure these numbers would skyrocket--not to mention attracting interest from even more magazines! We're doing pretty well moving that data, and you can thank Tibor and Bill for doing little tweaks and maintenance behind the scenes to make sure it stays that way.

Lockwood back from UK and Belgium in one piece
After a whirlwind tour of UK publishers, and a few days investigating Waterloo, the Belgian Army Museum, and other parts of Belgium, Lockwood arrived back at MagWeb--despite a "technical" (British Airways captain-pilot lingo for "one of the engines is on fire.") that forced us back to London Heathrow. And what a record descent time we made. But we'll get to all this later. Right now, it is time to do some housekeeping for the next few days...
