Book Review:

The Mistletoe and the Sword

By Anya Seton

Reviewed by Russ Lockwood

Avon, 1955, 95 cents, ISBN 380-18234-095, 190 pgs. Paperback

The yellowed pages of an almost 50-year-old book turned out to be a respectable plot about a young Roman optio stationed in Britain during Boudicca’s rebellion. Naturally, our fine protagonist, Quintus, saves a young Celtic maiden while defending Rome’s frontier. The rest of the book follows the Romeo and Juliet theme of star-crossed lovers.

For 50 cents in a discount bin, it was a worthwhile purchase and read.
