Nam

Vietnam Wargame Rules

by Bill Rutherford

Written by Mark Heel and published by Partizan Press, Leith-on-Sea, Essex, UK, 1990, for $7.00, Nam is intended as a fast set of company/battalion level rules designed for use with 1/200 scale miniatures. The troop scale is 1:1, with troops based by fours. The ground scale is one millimetertothe meter. Play is sequential, the various tactical rules being explained as the sequence is described, in only four pages. Basic morale rules and spotting rules are included, as well as normal fire and movement. Nam provides a reasonable equipment list (noOntos, but III live), three pages of organizational tables, a page of painting and terrain making advice, and two pages of campaign rule suggestions, along with a simple map. The intended player span of control is a US/ARVN battalion or a VC/NVA regiment. Though notas detailed as manyof the otherrules sets on the market, Nam accomplishes its goal - to push troops around without a lot of bookkeeping and provide an enjoyable game.
