Bill Leeson has brought wargamers a vast wealth of difficult to find original
works by reproducing the actual text of period books that now exist in
one ortwo veryexpensive copies. He has now published his 2nd edition
of the original Miniature wargame, The kriegsspiel by Von Reisswitz. By
itself it is an interesting read as we discoverthat many of our present day
mechanisms for gaming were used in this text for teaching the Prussian
Officer Corps the tactics and strategy of the early 1800s. This translation
gives us insight into what Napoleonic warfare must have been like as it is
these lessons that Von Reisswitz is trying to teach his pupils. It is also an
interesting and fun wargame. Bill also publishes maps, umpire sheets and
metal troop blocks for use with the game. Recommended for any
Napoleonic gamer's bookshelf. $18.60 pp to Bill Leeson, 5 St. Angnells
Lane Cottage, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP2 7HJ.
