Fire and Fury

ACW Rules

by Dick Bryant

For some years now Rich Hasanauer has been putting on prize winning Civil Wargames at Historicon and Cold Wars. No one who has everseen them can easily forget the beautifully terrained battlefields of those games. Well Rich has applied that talent to a new set of American Civil War rules. Beautifully presented by Quantum Printing (Tactica) with many full color photos and great illustrations showing how the game is played. The game is based on the Brigade as the smallest element allowing grand tactical play of the largest battles of the Civil War.

The game is divided into 1/2 hour turns: Union player moves, Confederate fire defensive, Union player fires offensive, Melees are resolved. The Confederate player moves, etc., with the Confederate melee resolution ending the 1/2 hour turn. I have not played the game but the 6 simple charts and the abundance of illustration of play certainly indicate an easy to learn and play set of rules. Emphasis is on FUN and REALISM. From Wargames.
