Just when it seemed 15mm figures were about to sweep the field along comes another company producing 25mm! This is good news for the old fogies like myself who retain a 25mm collection. Whittlesey Miniatures (6 St. Mary's St., Whittlesey, Nr. Peterborough, Cambs., U.K.) figures measure 25mm from eye to toe. This means they fit in well with MiniFigs an area bit large for older lines such as Kriegspieler. They do not have the super detail of state of the art 15s, but they are acceptable. Their cross belts are prominently raised lending themselves to ease of painting, some faces are quite animated while others a bit indistinct. They seem sturdy, as I twist a bayonet it remains secured to the musket. They are free of flash and do not have annoying mold lines. Some poses are overly stiff, a few are nicely animated; the majority are acceptable. At the moment they have French line infantry for the 1812-15 period, Austrians for 1809-15, and Russian, Prussian, and Bavarian infantry for 1812-15. Infantry are 20p each, which means they cost about 30 cents. Presuming this information is correct, this makes them quite a bargain. Cavalry are coming available but none were included for this review. Whittlesey also carries Revo Flags in 25mm scale. These are really quite good. Available for my inspection were Brunswick-Nassau, Bavarian, and Russian infantry flags. According to Keith Over's information, they are all accurately rendered. Furthermore, they show exquisite detail. Note they are not self-adhesive. However, I cannot imagine why anyone would want to hand paint flags given the availability of these gems. Highly recommended at about 90 cents for a sheet of four to six flags. In fact, they are so nice, our editor asked to have them back. No way, Dick! More Reviews
