Reviewed: #3022 T72M/80, $5.25; #4041 Pz 38(t), $4.75; #6052 M3 Stuart, $4.25; #3105 Modern USSR Inf (15 figs), $3.75; #6108 Modern US Inf (15 figs), $3.75.

The line of 15mm WWII and modern era vehicles, weapons, and troops is produced by Chuck Cook of Alexandria, Virginia. Originally consisting of the old Heritage/CustomCast line of miniatures, this range has been expanded upon by Chuck to include nearly 100 new infantry figures, including the first (to my knowledge) 15mm modern troops produced by anybody, and 50+ new vehicles and weapons. The range currently includes most of the vehicles and troops of WWII (no Italians, though) and is quickly making inroads into the modern era.

Even more prodigal than the sheer bulk of his new releases is the quantum leap in quality from the old CustomCast models (some of which are 40 years old!) to the newer vehicles. The Pz 38(t), for example, checks out almost perfectly against the Bellona plans and compares favorably with any other miniature I've ever seen in this scale! The models typically have from two to five parts; the better castings are flashfree, but some, as my sample T72, required some minor clean-up prior to painting.

The infantry is outstanding. Heritage's 15mm infantry was always their strong suit; Chuck has decided to go one better by making his new troops even better. The figures arewell animated and proportioned, are accurately equipped (the U.S. troops are even wearing flak vests), and are detailed - the U.S. Stinger gunner is wearing goggles! I've seen the planned production lists for this range - many new items are scheduled for release, and best of all, many of the older, "meat and potatoes" items are scheduled for reworking to bring them up to current standards. All in all, well recommended for the 15mm gamer with a taste for WWII or modern era miniatures. Write to Quality Castings, Inc., P.O. Box 11714, Alexandria, VA 22312, for a current price listing.
