Heroes Miniatures makes a line of some sixty (at present) 20mm modern infantry, including ten poses each of Soviet, U.S., Israeli, Arab, French Foreign Legion, and British troops, with a set of West Germans in process. The figures run almost exactly 20mm tall. Animation is good; most of the poses are convincing. Proportionality could be improved, however, as most of the figures are somewhat squat in appearance. Detailing is variable in quality. On the uniforms, web gear, etc., it's quite good, adding considerably to the overall charisma of the figures. On the other hand, while some of the weapons are very well done, many of the smaller weapons are devoid of detail. Overall for the gamer interested in 20mm modern skirmish gaming, the Heroes figures present a wide range of useful troop types of an acceptable standard at a reasonable price.
