1/285th WWII Micro Armour

review by Bill Rutherford

Here are five new WW II Micro Armour releases: FRI 3 25mm ATG w/UE Prime Mover, UK63 17 Pounder ATG with Crusader Prime Mover, UK65 Sherman V (M4A4), G146 Stahlwagen, and FR12 75mm Field Gun with Unic Halftrack.

These models are up to GHQ's normal standards, being cleanly cast, with a wealth of detail - more than some larger scales - and a generally convincing appearance... The Sherman is a basic Sherman without skirts, and comes five to a pack. The Stalilwagen (supply wagon) set includes four wagons with separate tongues and horses, and should paint up nicely. The 17pdr set's Crusaders are especially nice, as they're open-topped and full of detail (the guns are nice, too). The 25mm gun set comes with four guns, two limbers, and two UE prime movers. You don't really appreciate the tiny size of the UE until you realize that the 25mm gun dwarfs it! The 75mm gun set provides a nice rubber-tired '75 and covered halftrack prime mover - four of the fortner and two of the latter and is, as one might expect, well detailed.

If you game in 1/285 - 1/300 scale, I unreservedly recommend these. They are available for $8.95 per pack from your local game shop, or if (unlikely) they don't carry GHQ, directly from the maker at 28100 Woodside Road, Shorewood, MN 55331. Go to GHQ's website at http://www.ghqmodels.com to see a complete catalog just about everything in GHQ's line is illustrated with a clear color photo; take a look!
