review by Tony Gibbs
The GHQ range of WWII ships in the 1:2400 scale has a new addition. CA-45 USS Wichita (Micronauts # USN-75). The ship itself is built to completion using approx. 10 pieces, with little or no flash. As with all GHQ ships this one comes with it's own potted history and simple, clear building instructions. The painting instructions, however leave a lot to be desired, with no clue to the historical colors involved- not even a hint. The completed model has masts that you need TLC if you do not wish to damage it. I replace them with fine piano wire. The finish on all GHQ ships is incredible with more detail than many larger ships. Having said all that I found it to be charming piece and will be useful on the gaming board. Don't know the actual price, but most of their heavy cruisers seem to be about $7.95 Available from GHQ 28100 Woodside Rd, Shorewood MN 55331-2693 USA or at 612 374 2693 or even www.ghqmodels.com More Reviewing Stand
