Dixon

20mm AMR

review by Scott Holder

I received just two figures for review, both British Fusiliers, one advancing/charging (AR26), the other reloading his gun (AR25). Previously, I had not seen any Dixon AMR figures so two thoughts ran through my mind when I first looked at these castings, 1) No one makes British Fusiliers; instead, everybody just uses grenadier figures and either slices down the height of the hat or just calls them fusiliers, so this is a great 25mm addition, or 2) These are either THE best or one of the two best AMR 25mm lines out there today. Upon comparing examples from both lines, I now feel the Dixon figures ARE the best 25mm AMR on the market. The figures are absolutely stunning in their detail, animation, casting quality, well, everything. One thing that sets them apart is the fact that the heads are in perfect proportion to the body, something not usually seen in any 25mm. AMR line. Examples of perfect detail are the folds in the coat and pants, the shoulder wings, buttons, the backpacks, and the bearskin hats. My only gripe is that the hands are too large. Therefore, if choosing between this and one other line, you're going for either big heads there or big hands here.

These figures measure 25M so fit in well with just about every contemporary AMR figure although they will be larger than any of the older lines that still make up most 25mm gamers collections. Fig ures cost $1.49. Even I, as a relative youngster in the hobby, remember when 25mm AMR figures cost 25 cents apiece but man oh man, those figures of 1975 don't come close to comparing to these.
