1/285th Modern Micro Armour

review by Bill Rutherford

Here are three new Modern Micro Armour releases: W67 T90 MBT, W68 Modern Russian Infantry, and W69 Modern Russian Heavy Weapons.

Getting the simplest one out of the way first, the T90 is a modern Russian tank - low, covered with lumps and bumps, and, typical for GHQ, very well cast and detailed (the MG cupola on the turret is a separate piece). These will look appropriately ominous when painted and washed... The photo on GHQ's website is good but doesn't really do this gem justice! The other two packs are part of a continuing trend by GHQ to re-release all of its infantry as individually mounted troops. The heavy weapons pack includes a dozen AGS17 automatic grenade launcher gunners, 19 light machinegunners, nine RPG gunners, eight nice ATGM gunners, and a pair of 120mm mortars and crews. The infantry pack includes a bunch of advancing infantry, leavened by a half-dozen LMGs and a half-dozen officers - something over 60 figures in all, done to what's quickly become the standard for 1/285 - 1/300 scale troops. Oh - for the record, these fellows weigh in at about 6M Barrett...

If you game in 1/285 - 1/300 scale, I recommend these they're well (and convincingly) sculpted and cleanly cast... They are available for $8.95 per pack from your local game shop, or if (unlikely) they don't carry GHQ, directly from the maker at 28 100 Woodside Road, Shorewood, MN 55331. Go to GHQ's website at http://www.ghqmodels.com to see a complete catalog - just about everything in GHQ's line is illustrated with a clear color photo; take a look at their infantry to better appreciate my comments!
