Sterling has published two books full of color plates useful as uniform guides. The first, Napoleon Soldiers (ISBN 1-85409-242-1) depicts the Grand Army of 1807 in 98 full color reproductions of the Otto Manuscript. Otto was an artist contemporary to his subject matter. Each plate has a full page explanation by Guy Dempsey Jr. which is extremely helpful. $29.95 in hardcover($41.95 in Canada). The second, Uniforms of the Peninsular War 1807-1814, (ISBN 1-85409-271-5) by Philip Haythornthwaite and Michael Chappel, is full of eye-opening plates showing the British Peninsular veterans and their allies as they really looked on campaign. This book is enough to make you want to repaint your army for added realism. $19.99($27.95 in Canada). Both available from Sterling Publishing Co., Inc. 387 Park Ave. South, NY NY 10016-8810 More Reviews
