Review:

Danish Army Museum Booklets

by Dan Schorr

In conjunction with exhibits the Danish Army Museum has issued a number of booklets which may be of interest. Two that I recently received are The Schleswig-Holstein Revolt 1848-51 (56 pgs) and The Danish-German War 1864 (36 pgs). Both are available in English at very reasonable prices ) 40 and 32 Danish Kronerrespectively (5.76 kroner = $1). Each provides an excellent overview of the causes and the military operations of the conflict.

Both contain numerous black and white illustrations, and The Schleswig-Holstein Revolt booklet contains a number of color illustrations, including two uniform plates showing the uniforms worn by both sides. Both of these booklets are by Johs Nielsen.

Other booklets are available in English, including one titled Danish Uniforms 1900-1990, 56 pgs, by Bjorn A. Nielsenwhich covers both the Army and the Air Force. All are available from Tojhusmuseet, Frederiksholms Kanal 29, 1220 Copenhagen K,Denmark. Highly Recommended.
