Mirliton
15mm 15th Century
Italian Command

Figures

by Terry Gore

Recently received a group of Mirliton 15mm figures representing the command group of Federico de Montefeltro (1422-1482). This nicely sculpted four figure group stands 18mm B, with their builds on the slight side. Each command pack includes four mtd. figures with three unarmored and one armored horse.

The single plate armored (SHK) figure has a stiff pose, but with that much armor on, not much flexibility would be in evidence, anyway. There is a well sculpted trumpeter, with a large banner suspended from his instrument, and elaborate 15th century dress; billowing sleeves, cape and hat-a nicely done figure.

The CiC has a pronounced hooked nose, plate armor on his body and a flat cap. He is pointing with a staff. The figures are flashless-something I've noted on other figures from this company, and a selling point in my book. I would recommend these figures as a nice addition to anyone's 15th century army.

Prices are $3.50 for a pack of 8 foot, $4.00 for a pack of 4 horses and riders. Available from G.K.G. Gaming, 86 Regan Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
