GHQ WWII
TO&E Files 1,2,3

by Bill Rutherford

GHQ, in support of their (insanely) large line of 1/285th armor miniatures, has released the first three of what I hope will be an extensive line of tables of organization and equipment (TO&E). The first three TO&Es deal with the US 1944 Armored Infantry Battalion, Medium Tank Battalion, and Army and Marine Infantry Battalions. Each is a six page (3 sheets) set of charts perforated for your 3-ring binder.

The TO&Es are exhaustive, detailing their subject organizations all the way from how many vehicles are contained in the HQ company HQ of a 1944 armored infantry battalion (2 - a jeep and a halftrack) right down to how many .45 cal pistols and how many field musicians (as opposed to garrison musicians???) a USMC Series D Infantry battalion contains. They're accurate, too - I checked my limited reference collection and GHQ is on the money. I didn't know, for example, that a person who conducts camouflage is known as a camofleur...

Anyway, if you do WW II miniatures, at $2.95 each, these are a bargain when you look at the (rising) cost of reference material. Available from your local gameshop, or, failing that, directly from GHQ at at 28100 Woodside Road, Shorewood, MN 55331.
