Two packs of the Foundry's new 'Renaissance Bad Wars Mercenaries' figures arrived and nice they are. Standing 27mm Barret Scale and of medium build, the first pack (REN MERC 11) contained eight Swiss pikemen (or Landskechts). The figures are all in the same pose, holding their halberds at shoulder level, but they have a variety different heads. The figures are standing with front leg forward to receive a charge and have the archetypal Swiss armor, pantaloons, codpiece and firm visage of a professional warrior. The other figures were of a command group (REN MERC 16),again superbly animated and sculpted, with a drummer, fife player and three officers, all outfitted in in resplendent Swiss finery and marching off to battle. One figure in particular is swinging a deadly two-handed six-foot (in scale) sword! No prices given but I believe the usual cost is $12.00 per pack. Available from The Foundry Ltd. 1549 Marview Dr., Westlake, Ohio, 44145. More Courier Reviews

Briefly the number is the height in Millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of the base) to it's eye. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L = Light; M = Medium;; and H = Heavy. H will fit well with other H and somewhat with M but not at all with L even in the same scale. thus a 27 M is a larger 25mm figure of Medium Heft.
