B&B 20mm WWI
Camel and Cavalry

Figures

Reviewed by Bill Rutherford

B&B Produces a half dozen packs of mounted troops - Arab regular camelry and cavalry (AW11 and AW12), Indian camelry and Cavalry (AW43 and AW44), and British and Turkish cavalry (AW23 and AW73). The cavalry types measure about 20MH Barrett; the camel riders are similar. Camels and horses look about right for the riders. The mounts, all walking or trotting, are well detailed, with straps, minor baggage, etc., though there's a bit of flash, especially on the undersides of the mounts. The troopers are separate, and themselves have separate right arms holding weapons, generally swords or lances. The Indian camel trooper is holding a nice slung Lee Enfield rifle. The separate arms allow a certain amount of variety even before one starts twisting heads, etc. Heads, by the way, are nice; the Arabs all wear traditional shemagh, the British trooper wears a soft cap, and the Turk wears the unique Turkish kabalak. Animation is staid; they're all sitting on their mounts in approximately the same poses. The troopers have a fair amount of detail on them but a lot of it seems a little soft in definition. I had the oddest feeling that I was looking at large, slightly chunky 15s when examining these fellows. I can't put my finger on a specific feature, but they just look thick... I have no idea of the variety of poses, weapons, heads, etc., within a pack, as I have only one figure from each. The camelry come 8 to a pack, the cavalry, 11 to a pack, and all packs sell for $23.98. They should be available from directly from their U.S. distributor, Brookhurst Hobbies, at 12188 Brookhurst St., Garden Grove, CA 92840, or from their website at www.brookhursthobbies.com.

More Courier Reviews

The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurements System (BM) to simplify the comparison of figure sizes one to another. Briefly the number is the height in Millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of the base) to it's eye. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L = Light; M = Medium;; and H = Heavy. H will fit well with other H and somewhat with M but not at all with L even in the same scale. thus a 27 M is a larger 25mm figure of Medium Heft.
