FAA 20mm 1940 British

Figures

Reviewed by Bill Rutherford

Three packs of figures are on-hand, including BSA2, HG Riflemen (5 figs), BSA4, HG LMG (4 figs), and BSA10, Regular Patrol (3 figs). The figures all measure about 19.5M Barrett, from shoes to eyes. The Home Guardsmen are all in light kit - water bottles only, and all wear side caps. The Regulars are in full field gear, including gas bags and backpacks, and wear naked helmets. Details are in the heavier style now becoming common for FAA, with exaggerated blouses on the pants, bulging packs, etc. Weapons are generally good, though they're not altogether consistent - rifles, particularly, vary somewhat in weight and detail. Poses and proportions are conservative and restrained. The figures paint well, the heavier detailing allowing one to work through a set of figures to a good standard in a reasonable amount of time. They will look fine on either the gaming table or in a model diorama. Recommended, BSA2 and BSA4 at $4.40, and BSA10 at $3.40, from your FLGS, or if you can't find them there, directly from their U.S. distributor, Brookhurst Hobbies, at 12188 Brookhurst St., Garden Grove, CA 92840, or from their website at www.brookhursthobbies.com.

More Courier Reviews

The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurements System (BM) to simplify the comparison of figure sizes one to another. Briefly the number is the height in Millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of the base) to it's eye. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L = Light; M = Medium;; and H = Heavy. H will fit well with other H and somewhat with M but not at all with L even in the same scale. thus a 27 M is a larger 25mm figure of Medium Heft.
