With Musket Cannon and Sword

Brent Nosworthy's new book (he wrote Anatomy of Victory in 1990) examines the TACTICS of the Napoleonic wars in great detail. All the countries in the fight are covered as are the battles from Spain to Russia and Waterloo. Mr. Nosworthy makes extensive use of the experience and narratives of the participants to develop his analysis.

WARNING! Mr. Nosworthy's description and analysis of small unit tactics will point up many errors in the assumptions miniature wargame rules make. I received a whole new insight into firefights and melees as have all my wargame club friends who are reading the book. We have started to purge our Napoleonic rules and make massive changes in them. I predict that there will be a massive rewrite of Napoleonic Miniature Wargame rules in th near future as a result of Mr. Nosworthy's unprecendented book.

This book is a must buy for any napoleonic period wargamer. At 528 pages with 8 pages of maps and illustration, it is a good buy for $35. Available from good book stores everywhere or contact Sarpedon Publishers, 166 Fifth Ave., NY, NY 10010 (ISBN 1-885119-27-5) - DICK BRYANT
