The figures are well animated and posess crisp detail for easy painting. They are large, measuring 30H on the Barrett Scale, but will fit well with Front Rank Jacobites and the new Dixon Highlander range. The range includes 16 figures in 12 poses. The sample figures are all in the Philabeg, or small kilt, and have no shoes or hose. One highlander is armed with the makeshift pike which features a dirk affixed to the top of a pole with the blade bent back in the center for use in dismounting cavalry. He carries no other weapon and is clearly a rear ranker, something sorely lacking in most Jacobite ranges. The second is armed with axe and targe, which comes seperately. This is also a unique figure, especially for those looking to flesh out their Jacobite armies with arms reflecting the earlier risings, i.e. the 1689 or even the 1715 rising. This would also be of use for earlier events, such as the great clan feuds. It can also easily be used in an ECW Loyar Scots or Coventer army. The axe is of a large hatchet style, not the typical (and too often over-produced in most lines) Lochabar axe weilded with 2 hands. The third figure is armed with a basket hilted broadsword and targe, again seperate. this figure is a bit big at the neck and rather broad chested, but otherwise a sharply detailed figure screaming his clan war cry. He carries a simple dirk, thrust into a plain belt and wears a simple shirt as do the other figures, without a jacket. The seperate targes themselves are nicely detailed. One even has bullet holes in it! Overall these are fine figures and I shall be adding some to my Jacobite armies. I hope that they issue a pack of lowlanders to augment the Highland release. A pack of 16 figures sells for $17.98 from Brookhurst Hobbies, 12188 Brookhurst St., Garden grove CA, 92640 - MARK MOCARSKI. * The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
