Where the Iron Crosses Grow

This 44 page, staple-bound, magazine-sized book presents, in a clear and concise manner, 21 WW II miniatures scenarios taken from the Eastem Front, split evenly among the 1941-42, the 1943, and the 1944-45 periods. Production qualities are what one expects from Quantum - glossy, color covers and good page-paper. They're designed mainly for use with the popular ruleset Spearhead, but are usable, with little modification with any rules that have the platoon as the basic unit. A two page introduction briefs players on notation, scenario layout, etc. A page of designer's notes and official Spearhead errata complete the book. Oh - there're two pages of adverts as well. The scenarios all take two pages and include a clear, basic, game map gridded in 3' squares, a short historical intro. to the scenario, orders of battle and victory conditions. Unusually for WW II miniatures gaming, these scenarios involve lots of infantry! The scenarios generally pit the equivalent of a reinforced German division against anything up to a reinforced Soviet corps. The suggested battlefields are always big enough for a bit of maneuver, though, so expect lively, large fights... At $17.95 from your local game shop, highly recommended! - BILL RUTHERFORD
