Panzerkampfe WWII Scenarios

Clash of Arms

by Paul Koch

Modern era scenario books are becoming both more popular and of better quality, as shown by PanzerKampfe. This 43 page booklet contains five large (at least one division per side) and three smaller WW II scenarios scattered through Europe and North Africa. The scenarios are designed for COAs grand tactical (one miniature represents a platoon on-table) miniatures rules, Clash of Armor, though theyre quite suited to other games at that level, or, if one wants to research platoon organizations, for 1:1 gaming. Actually, while that's technically possible, nobody with any common sense will try Kursk at 1:1!!! Each scenario includes a general situation briefing, terrain notes, table details and deployments, and detailed victory conditions, as well as a good battlemap. The scenarios don't include player briefings, which is a shame, as such briefings help put players in the proper mindsets to play. On the other hand, each scenario does include all of the game charts - vehicle data, organization details, the lot! - needed to play the scenario. This should be a big help in starting up any of the larger scenarios. Finally, the booklet lists on pp. 42 - 43 all of the miniatures needed to play any of the scenarios - another set-up boon. If you play any of the grand tactical WW II miniatures rules that are taking over the hobby these days, you'll be glad you bought PanzerKampfe - its a good value at $15.95. I got mine at my local gameshop. If yours doesnt carry them, contact the publishers at the Byrne Bldg, Ste 205, Lincoln & Morgan Sts., Phoenixville, PA 19460.
