25mm Aztec

Pass of the North

by John Boehm

This range presently has 12 different Aztec and other early Mexican warriors including generals and captains. Also available are separate packages of weapons and shields and some very im pressive backbanners which been attached to the captains. The samples received are well detailed, fairly animated, and cleanly cast with little flash. They measure 25H on the Barrett scale. Two sample figures include a warrior and captain in quilted body armor with loin cloth. All figures have separate shields and weapons. The captains, as indicated, have a slot in the back for the attachment of one of the impressive backbanners sold sepa rately. These include an impressive serpent bird banner, a large crest of feathers and a parasol like affair. Another pack of banners consists of different types of banners for captains and elites. Separately cast accessories include round shields, feathered shields, javelins and macuahauitls.

Other samples include a warrior or captain in a feathered or scaled body cover ing, and elaborately headdressed archer in quilted body armor, and a general in cloak. The figures are $1.25 each and cast of a lead free pewter alloy. Weapons and banner packs are available separately, although a weapon and shield comes with each figure. These packs are $1.00 or $3.00 depending on the particular type of backbanners. The range consists at the present time of 12 different figures including Tlaxealen soldiers, and various Mexica warriors. Also available is a companion range on Conquis tadors. The figures would be a nice addition to a 25mm. Aztec army available from Pass of the North Wargames, 1060 Esplenada, El Paso, TX 79932.

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
