The Reviewing Stand
by Jim Birdseye
These figures are reworks of some of the older figures that will include multiple poses. The Courier received four different figures from the expanded line. Wereceived PN 13 (French line grenadiers), PN 1 (French Old Guard Grenadiers), PNB 6 (Highland line on guard), and PNB 1 (British line.) Like all the ESSEX line figures these were cleanly cast and nicely detailed. Several figures had small amounts of flash. The figures measure 17mm toe to eye on average. The figures come in packs of 8 line or six for command. These figures measure M17, Barrett Measure. The major improvement in these figures is the detailing, the proportions have not changed significantly which makes them compatible with the ESSEX figures already on the market. Also ESSEX has expanded the line to include different poses for the standard line figures, kneeling, firing etc. The noses on the British line look the part of the seasoned (or should I say stewed)veterans of Wellington. The sideburns set the face off nicely. ESSEX has produced some nice figures. ESSEX figures are available from WARGAMES, Box 278, Route 40 East, Triadelphia, WV 26059 or call (304)547-0000 More Reviews

The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
