Nafziger Connection

George Nafziger

by Greg Rice

This is a collection of Orders of Battle ranging from 1700 through WWII, with some ECW material. The WWII material has been greatly expanded recently, with a catalog now running to some 25 pages, with some 50 OB's per catalog page typical. There are also large collections for the French Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, and ACW, with other conflicts receiving somewhat lesser coverage; the Spanish Civil War, for example, has something over 100 OBs available.

The contents and quality of these documents vary considerably, depending on the source from which they were drawn. Much of the WWII material, for example, is TO&E data ranging from Company to Corps in scope, while other entries are actual orders of battle and strength returns.

You can get a three-page listing of the authorized strength of the staff company of a Sturmgeschtz Battalion of 1 June 1944, a two-page listing of the daily tank returns of the 4th Panzer Army from 23-31 July 1942, or a 115-page Organizational History of the 1st through 199th German Infantry, Security, and Panzer Grenadier Divisions, 1939-1945, not to mention an assortment of Soviet Orders of Battle I haven't found anywhere else.

The files are printed in draft quality by a dot matrix printer, and are priced at .25 per page. PO Box 1522, West Chester, OH 45069-1522. SASE with questions, please.
