21: Should the US re-instate the draft for mandatory military training?
MagWeb.com Analysis The membership studies war and warfare, including the ability of countries to wage it. Training is paramount in the successful prosecution of war, and the US' volunteer forces are tops in the world. Still, manpower is manpower, but volunteering remains the preference of our members. From the previous question, half our members believe the US is not at war. 22: If the US re-instated the draft, what should the term of service be?
MagWeb.com Analysis Never re-instate is consistent with question 21. As for the rest of you, if we implement the draft, you want a well-trained member of the armed forces placed somewhere for two years. I would have thought a year would have been the big response, so that in an emergency, minimal refresher training would be needed, so deployment would be quicker. On the other hand, after expending time, effort, and money training someone, the membership believes we ought to put him or her somewhere to use the learned skills. War, Warfare, and MagWeb.com
