Qualiticast

25mm Mongols

Review by John Boehm

Qualiticast has released a range of 25 mm. Mongols. They are available from Brookhurst Hobbies, 12188 Brookhurst Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840. The riders come in packs of three figures for $4.50 and the horses also come in packs of three for $6.70. It was a little difficult to measure figures in a riding position, but I would gauge them at 24 M. on the Barret scale. The figures are cleanly cast with no flash and appear to be cast in pewter or a similar type of metal. The figures provided for review included armored riders with bows. The review sample consists of one warrior with body armor reaching for an arrow from his quiver on his hip. This figure has a soft cap.

The second figure has a helmet and is cast in two halves from the waist so that you can adjust the angle of the firing figure. Facial detail is very good. The other figures provided for review are unarmored warriors with fur caps and an assortment of pole arms, maces and scimitars provided as side arms. One is carrying a weapon at his side, the other is again cast in two halves and is holding his spear or pole arm in both hands across the front of his body. The horses provided included galloping light cavalry horses and galloping heavy cavalry horses with armor. They are provided in assorted posses. The light horses have a variety of items hanging from their saddle furniture and are quite animated. The armored horses consisted of one in full armor and the second with half armor, both with chamfrons. Overall the figures would appear to be a good addition to a Mongol army.
