B&B Miniatures

20mm The Seven Samurai and Shogun

Review by John Boehm

This range is also available from Bookhurst Hobbies. The figures are approximately 18 H. on the Barret scale. Provided for review were a pack of Ashigaru arqubusiers, a pack of peasants with bamboo spears, and a pack of mixed weapons. All the figures and the weapons come in packs of twenty. The figures are $22.50 per pack and the weapons are $7.50 per pack. The figures are cleanly cast with little flash and come in a variety of posses in each package. As indicated they are stocky and the arqubuses in particular are very bulky. The arqubusiers are armored and there are three main posses, loading, standing firing and kneeling at the ready. Within each pose there are three to four types of head gear, two types of helmets and two without helmets.

The peasants are even more varied. In the pack provided there were nine different posses. All are unamored without helmets in robes. The weapons are separately cast and consist of a variety of spears and pole weapons. At least one of the figures is female. Animation appears good and the warriors are holding their weapons in a variety of different angles and attitudes. Facial detail is good. The pack of mixed weapons consists of eight small swords, five heavy two handed swords, two bows and five spears.
