1/285 SU-27 Flanker

review by Bill Rutherford

CM has the distinction of being the first to manufacture an Su-27 Flanker in metal in any scale. Cleanly cast, the model checks out within a few percent of the dimensions given for the Su-27 in the only reference I've found willing to so specify - Mike Spick's Modern Soviet Fighters, pub. by Osprey. Several of the structural shapes on the plane are a bit suspect when compared to photos in Spick's book - especially around the tailplanes and in the forward fuselage. The former appear to be shaped differently and the latter seems to long and narrow. On the plus side, the model is nicely detailed with underwing stores cast-on very attractively and does look like a Flankerwhen painted. Pricing, at $4.50, is comparable to that of the other domestic manufacturers. If you play modern air games, this one is worthwhile.
