I-94 Enterprises

Decals

by Bill Rutherford

One of the highlights of the recent Fall In! 2002 miniatures convention, for me, was to encounter I-94 Enterprises! Beacon Publications decals had for a long time been my favorite in both 15mm scale (WW2 vehicles of all sorts) and 1/285-300 scale (aircraft). They produced a wide variety of good quality decals and sold them at a really good price. One day, though, these decals were nowhere to be found and I was told that the manufacturer had closed shop. I-94 now sells (and, I believe, produces) these decals. A typical 1/285th scale aircraft pack, CR-101, contains two 1.25” by 3.5” sheets of decals – German WW II markings all in black – with enough to mark about a dozen aircraft (including staffel markings), for the paltry sum of $3.00. FR-100 is a set of French WW II markings – again for a dozen aircraft (with fin flashes), in full color. BR-100 is a set of British WW II roundels – again, a dozen aircraft – but this time, with separate yellow surrounds, fin flashes, Canadian Maple leaves, and Polish squadron markings. The aircraft range is quite wide – the British alone have “normal” tricolor markings, WW I markings, and two varieties of Pacific/CBI markings (each in their own set). Markings are available – in approximately the same proportions as those already mentioned (i.e., 12 aircraft per set) for Chinese, Italian, Soviet (several sets), German, American (numerous sets), and Japanese (and several others) as well as a variety of WW I sets. They even produce Egyptian, Iraqi, and Syrian markings!

In 15mm (also usable in 20mm), I-94 produces a vast array of markings ranging from British squadron markings to German tactical symbols (nine different sets, if you count the divisional markings sets) to British division and unit flashes to several sets of American vehicle markings to vehicle names to French playing cards to, well you get the picture – lots of markings, including a dozen different sets of German WWII vehicle number sets in a variety of styles. Most of the 15mm markings are also produced in 1/285/-300 scale – those that would still be visible in that scale, anyway.

The decals are (or at least, all of mine were!) absolutely on-register and the colors were all on-target. These decals should be in your local game shops for $3.00 per set but if you can’t get ‘em there, go to http://www.i-94Enterprises.com to take a look at their range. Be patient – I-94’s still loading pictures to their website but the main pages listing their range are there. You can also contact I-94 at sales@I-94Enterprises.com, call them at 269-945-3185, or write to them at 431 W. Colfax, Hastings, MI, 49058-1103. If you game WWII in the air or on land I heartily recommend this fine range of decals!
