I recently was sent four packs of the new Bicorne Miniatures ECW figures to review. These consisted of two packs each of foot and horse. The figures measure 28mm and medium weight (Barrett Scale) making them compatible with Old Glory, Foundry and most of the other current ‘larger’ 25mm lines. The figures are all of very good quality insofar as the animation and casting are concerned. There was little if any flash to deal with, only a small piece on the underside of some of the bases, but nothing on the figures themselves. The first pack (ECW9 - Armored Pikemen at Port) included 7 castings with four different styles of helmets and various heads. Each of the figures was in basically the same stance, thrusting forward with a pike (not included). Their tunics were the traditional ECW style with baggy pantaloons, stockings and different styles of boots and shoes. Each figure also had a haversack and sword as a secondary weapon. The variety of heads and footwear allows the unit to have a mixed look even though the figures were all in the same pose. Next was a pack of Musketeers (ECW13 - Musketeers at Order). These figures also had the same stance, standing with their muskets grounded in reserve. Again, the heads were varied, as was the headgear, being either wide floppy hats, a bandanna or a smaller crowned hat. These figures were also dressed in the usual tunic, pantaloons and different footwear, again allowing for a mixed unit. The mounted packs consisted of a command unit (ECW C7 - Horse Command w/running horse) and riders with pistols (ECWC2 - Trooper w/pistol (back and breast plate) w/running horse). All of these riders were well proportioned with their horses - something not always seen lately. The command figures in particular are very well done, with the commander charging with sword held aloft, a trumpet bearer alongside and a lancer in helmet and sash riding along in support. The other pack has the riders firing their pistols to their right, again with different headgear and nicely sculpted faces. In fact, all of the figures had this attribute, with different mustaches, beards and goatees. Price is $10.00 per pack. All in all, highly recommended and available from J&T Miniatures, 31216 County Rd. 112, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472. http://www.jandtminiatures.com
