A new Zulu range from Connoisseur Figures Box 8647 Tampa, Florida
33674-8647 USA (note this new address)! Connoisseur Figures has released
the first part of what will be an exciting range of figures for the
Zulu War, 1878. Currently available are the first 24 Zulu, 8 from
each of three regiments: Indluyengwe, uThulawana, and uDhloko. I have
samples from the first group. They are well sculpted with excellent
detail, every feather and tail is etched onthe figure. There are as
many poses as figures. Some have British coats. My favorite is ZU4
- "warrior running with outstretched spear," a beautiful action
pose Even the crouching figure is well animated. These should be a
joy to paint with either a stain technique or the popular black prime
The Zulu themselves could be used for many situations dating back
to the time of Shaka. In the pipeline for end of March is the British
series with 6 line figures. Then comes some very interesting ancillary
types: dismounted lancers and police both firing and horse holding
plus a Boer and a commissary officer, then comes the mounted lancers,
police, NNC and Boer. Later will be casualties and a "Zulu action
pack" of generic Zulu in action poses and lastly personalities including
Chelmsford, his interpreter, Chard and Bromhead, Schiess, Hook and
Dalton. Price for the available foot figures is $1.00 singlely or
$46 for a pack of 50. Add 10% for p&p if order is under $75. If you

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
