Battle Honours

1/300 scale WWII Aircraft

I recently ordered and received several of Battle Honors' new white metal aircraft, including a P51D Mustang, a P47D Thunderbolt, an A6M5 Zeke and an SBD Dauntless as well as several other aircraft (including a Ki43 Oscar!) They're a mixed bag as regards both detail and scale. While most of the aircraft were reasonably detailed, the P51D was more a caricature than a serious model. The actual scales of these planes varied widely from the nominal 1/300 scale. The P51D scaled out to 1/367 in length and 1/338 in wingspan. As a result, its proportions are of and it looks only vaguely like a P51. the other aircraft's' variance was less, but still noticeable - the Zeke was VERY noticeable. I don't mean to harp on this - many gamers won't be disturbed by these discrepencies. It bothers me, though, because such basic information as aircraft dimensions is available in many publications and it's not as if the various books don't largely agree on how long a P51 of a Zeke is! I don't know who carries the Air Masters line over here. I ordered mine directly from Battle Honors Miniatures at 324445 Underhill Road, London England, SE22 9EA, at 1.70 pounds per pack of three, plus postage. - BILL RUTHERFORD.

ED NOTE: Battle Honors is represented in the US by Emperor's Headquarters.

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
