25mm ECW French Mercenaries

Recently received were six figures, depicting French mercenaries fighting in the English Civil War. The figures were on the largesize, 28M Barrett scale ), but fit in quite nicely with WargamesFoundry and Essex. Virtually no flash at all on any of the figures. Two of the figures were musketeers. One excellent stalwart is in the process of diligently loading his piece, with a determined look upon his face (C-104). His neighbor is firing, standing with his left foot forward, knee slightly bent, mustache and goatee in place (C-102). Four pike-armed figures were also sent. Two of these (C-105 & 106) are in an overarm stance, striding forward. The third casting has his pike held aloft (C-107) and the final figure, whichcould also double as a standard bearer, jauntily is standing, hand onhip, confident and unafraid (C-101). All of the figures are dressed in contemporary mid-17th century uniform with plumed floppy soft hats, coat and pantaloons. Unfortunately, the pikes are not provided, but can easily be cut from guitar string available from any music store.

Besides their intended use, these figures would be great for Three Musketeer period-specific skirmish gaming or even the 17th centurycolonial period. I must say that the faces on these figures are very well done, some of the finest I've seen. No prices given, butcatalog and sample figures are available for $5.00 from MiniatureService Ctr., 1525 Bridge #163, Yuba City, CA 95993. - TERRY GORE

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
