25mm American Revolution

M. A. C. Historical Figures has released a range of 25mm American Revolutionary War figures. Received for review wereBritish/Colonial Line Infantry defending (ARW24), holding musketat high port (ARW 22), Officer standing with sword (ARW 30) and NCO with spontoon (ARW 32); Colonial Light Infantry advancing(ARW 50) and British Grenadier firing (ARW 40); and Minutemen atready (ARW 7) and at rest (ARW 4). All of the figures are 25M using the Barrett measure. The Line infantry figures wear the regulation coat, cocked hat, canteen, bayonet scabbard and cartridge box, but no gaiters. The Colonial light infantrymen is wearing the Lafayette light infantry cap ca.1781, canteen, cartridge box, bayonet and gaiters. The Grenadier figure has the bearskin, regulation coat with shoulder wings, full gaiters, haversack and cartridge box, but is missing the sword and bayonet scabbards. The Minutemen wear cocked hats and a short jacket or waistcoat with haversack or canteen and cartridge box. In addition to the figures reviewed, this range appears to include all of the basic infantry types necessary to recreate this conflict on the tabletop, including Hessian grenadiers/fusiliers. Unfortunately, there is no artillery or dragoons. The castings are of lead. A few of the figures contain flash; the bases on two of the figures reviewed are so small that the figures can be made to stand only with difficulty; and the bearskin cap on the grenadier figure appears to be out of proportion to the rest of the figure. Each figure contains sufficient detail, but on the whole the range does not measure up to the high standards we have come to expect from 25mm manufacturers. The one competitive advantage to these figures might be their price; unfortunately, none was provided. The figures are available from Irregular Miniatures U.S.A., P.O. Box 5125, Warren, Michigan 48090. $1.00 will bring a catalog and a complete listing of this range. - DAN SCHORR

* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
