Military Miniatures makes a wide range of 15mm resin-and-metal vehicles, including several (including the review subject) not made by anybody else. I've seen most of the range; my comments herein apply generally to the entire range. The Marder I (German Pak 40 ATG mounted on captured French Lorraine tractor chassis) comes in five pieces including the resin hull, and metal tracks, gun, and shield. The hull was cleanly cast and quite reasonably detailed, though I didn't realize it at first because the resin's just a bit translucent - a coat of primer was required to bring out the detail. No pitting was present at all. In fact, the only pitting I found on any of the Military Miniatures models I've examined appeared on the undersides of their M-10's mud guards The metal parts were simple, but well-cast. There was just a bit of flash but it cleaned up easily. The Marder I's proportions are generally good and the model captures the clunky look of the original. Scale is good, too. Though the hull was just a bit short, the Marder I fell into the same range band as the majority of other 15mm WW II equipment on the market and fits well along side them. Turreted vehicles (at least the ones I've seen) typically come with separate turret hatches, as is quickly becoming standard to this scale. Numerous of the vehicles come with external stowage (a variety of bedrolls, etc.) as well. The entirety of Military Miniatures' range (90 French, German, American, British, and Soviet vehicles at last count) is priced at $5.00 per vehicle, a bargain, considering their good quality. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this price is comparable to the price I paid, including shipping, when I ordered several vehicles from the manufacturer in New Zealand - no importer's price creep here! Recommended - from your local game shop or, failing that, directly from their US distributor, Military Miniatures Distributorship - USA, at 8554 122nd Ave., NE Suite 108, Kirkland, WA 98033.
