Hallmark Figures

1/1200 WWII B-17D

Reviewed by Bill Rutherford

Hallmark has built a reputation for doing big things in a small way and their B-17D is no exception. At this scale I'm not going to even try to check dimensions - the miniature's only 15mm long by 25mm in span - but it does capture the look of a B-17D with a ventral gondola and upright tail without dorsal fillet. The model's very cleanly cast with just about no flash. It's just big enough to paint nicely (I'd hesitate to try a pursuit plane in this scale) and will likely serve well in somebody's WW II naval game. Priced at two for $3.00, they're not altogether inexpensive, but if you need B-17s, this is where to get them. They're available from Hallmark Figures at 30 Haigh Wood Road, Cookridge, Leeds, UK, LS16 6PB.
