Egyptian reinforcements storms the defenses, Botzares bastion, which fails 9 March Missolonghi. Egyptian reinforcements capture the Islands in the Lagoon 16-21 Mar, Lykorema. Turks (4000) under Omer assault Greek positions defended by Greek regular troops every day for five days. Each attack is repulsed. 21 March Missolonghi. Egyptian reinforcements capture the Dolma defenses. 25 Mar or 6 Apr Missolonghi- Klissova. Greek defenders (200) of this outpost defeat several waves of attackers including Albanians (2000) and then Arabs (1000) 22 Apr Mt Zygos. Armatoli (200) attempt to aid a Greek breakout from Missolonghi but are ambushed and destroyed by Albanians (1800) 10 or 26 April Missolonghi. Greek defenders (5000) including women and children dressed as soldiers attempt a night breakout. The prepared Ottoman-Egyptian forces with a Cavalry reserves and aided by a bright moon annihilate the Greeks. The heroic defense and tragic end at Missolonghi spurred many Europeans to being serious support of the Greek cause. 15 June Constantinople. Janissaries revolt at reforms and are massacred by pro-Sultan forces. The effect in Greece is that all Turkish forces are irregular. Also the Russians are more willing to declare war on the Ottomans expecting little resistance from such irregular forces. 22 June, Almyros, Mani. Egyptians (6000) under Kehayabey launch nine assaults on Greek fortified positions. All are repulsed with heavy losses. 22 June Pyrgos and Charia. Egyptian attacks and these villages fail with heavy losses. 16 July, Karlovasi Harbor, Samos. Turk-Egyptian fleet attack the Greek fleet (15 Hydriot + 12 Spetsiot + 6 Psariot brigs). The Turks withdraw after a brief firefight. 18 July, Mehmataga. Egyptian (400) probe is halted by the local Greek garrison. 3 Aug, Athens. The Greek garrison (800) is overwelmed by Reshid's Turkish force (5000) but withdraw to the fortified Acropolis and are besieged. 6 Aug, Chaidari. Large formal battle between Greeks (1000 Regulars + 200 Philhellenes +2000 Irregulars) and Turkish troops. Turks retreat after heavy fighting. 25 Aug Athens. Greeks counterattack on the Turk garrison. 27 Aug, Maniakova, Mani. Egyptian-Turkish force (~7000) under Ibrahimattack Greek positions (600) but withdraw and advance along a different route after a short battle. 28 Aug, Polyaravos, Mani. Egyptian-Turkish force (~7000) under Ibrahimattack Greek positions (2000) but fail to defeat the Greeks and withdraw. Aug-Oct Athens-Acropolis. Numerous sorties made by both sides 11-12 Sept Aegean. The Greek and Turkish fleets conduct a running battle as the Turks sail (or are chased) from off Samos to the protection of the Dardanelles forts. 23 Nov or 5 Dec, Arachova. Greeks ambush a Turk-Albanian (2000) column and kill 1700 men. Occurred in a snowstorm. 29 Nov, Athens.
