Geo-Hex

Trees

by William A. Greenwald

The range of miniature scenics available from GEO-HEX is growing. The latest catalogue contains a listing of 5 varieties of trees available for miniature wargaming, in Deciduous, Poplar, Fir, Palm, and Cactus. The Deciduous trees, for those like myself that didn't know, are the type that have leaves and/or fruit that fall off periodically.

The Deciduous and Poplar trees range in heights from 1/2 to 4 3/4 inches, and are packaged from 3 to 5 per package based on the size (more per pack in the smaller sizes).

The Fir family, like the Pine, range in height from 7/8 to 4 3/4 inches, and are also packaged 3 to 5 per pack.

One of the more interesting trees is the Palm. This has a bendable metal stalk and is very realistic. They range in sizes from 7/8 to 9 inches. These are packaged 1 to 5 per pack.

The last type, the Cactus, I did not get to review. If it is anything like the quality of the other trees in the line, I am sure it is quite nice. These range from 1/2 to 2 inches in height, in packs of 2 to 5.

There are six different sizes of Poplar, Fir, and Palm trees, while the Deciduous has eight and the Cactus has four different sizes, all in a variety of colors.

The trees do not have bases, however, and one must devise his own or buy those available from GEO-HEX.

The pricing on these trees is $5.25 to $11.95 per pack, the average cost of a tree being a little more than a dollar. A good point to make is with the many different heights available, many game scales can be accommodated. The smaller trees are excellent for Micro Armor while the largest are suitable for 25mm and larger. Catalogue available from GEO-HEX, 528 North East Hancock St., Portland, Oregon 97212.
