Tabletop Games

15mm Napoleonics

Reviewed by Jim Arnold

Happily another company has entered the lists with a line of 15mm Napoleonic figures. Tabletop Games (Alliance Miniatures, P.O. Box 2347, Des Moines, Iowa 50310) presents a nice line of French, British, Prussian, Austrian, and Russian figures.

Each country's soldiers are reasonably comprehensively covered. For example, Prussian figures include landwehr buglers, standard bearers, and officers. An exotic figure such as Guard jaeger musicians can be purchased. in the Austrian Army, that usually overlooked figure, the grenzer, is available in at least one pose. Generals and a good variety of artillery are available for all countries.

The figures themselves have much merit. A French light infantryman has cuffs with three clearly defined button holes, the highlander has a pronounced plate on his backpack. Overall the deep carved details make for easier painting.

The figures have some flash, the metal breaks a bit too easily, the muskets are a bit heavy, some figures have shakoes overly large. These details aside, I think 15mm advocates will want to investigate Tabletop Games. An individual cavalry figure costs $.50, infantry, $.25. in bulk, six of the same cavalry figures cost $2.85; 12 infantry figures go for the same price.
