RAFM Company, Inc. (19 Concession St., Cambridge, Ontarion, Canada NIR 2G6) has sent for review samples of their new 25mm Privateers and Gentlemen line. The figures are designed to represent those iron men that fought on wooden sailing ships between 1795 and 1820. The line includes American, French, British sailors, marines and officers plus an assortment of pirates and Turks. These figures are ideal for small on-ship actions and certainly provide a departure from the more standard landlocked offerings. RAFM also produces 12 and 24 pound deck guns to add another dimension to your scenario. As might be expected the uniforms and dress of the figures is at times downright exotic. Of special note are the Turks (JT-09) and the Gun Crew (JT-05). I especially like the gun crewman complete with Arabian outfit of baggy pants, slippers and frilly shirt. If nothing else after painting these figures you can expect an incredibly colorful fight. The animation is very good with lots of action in the line figures. One or two of the officers could have use a bit more dynamic posturing but that is a minor point. The detailing on the figures is very good with the officers being the best examples. This is a fun line and with a little imagination they would fit very well with the new Greenfield Hobbies Sailing Ships. Bring back the shores of Tripoli. Other Reviews:
