Frontier Miniatures

25mm Alamo, Conquistadores

You have to like a Texas based company that starts their catalogue with a comprehensive list of Alamo figures. (These are the figures developed for the very popular Alamo game at Origins '85 & HMGS -- ED.) At least they have their priorities straight. Frontier Miniatures is a relatively new company that is producing an impressive variety of figures over a short period of time. They produce both 15mm and 25mm figures spanning a significant range of history. I was especially impressed with the depth of their Alamo sets which includes not only a wide variety of Texans but also a number of personality figures and such esoteric items as Mexican assault teams. Now this may seem to be over reacting to do so many figures for just one battle whose outcome when played is seldom in doubt. But remember that Texans can be ACW irregulars and Mexicans can be used in a number of Napoleonic armies. They have also sent us for review samples of their Conquistadores line in 25mm. Again they have assembled a nice variety of miniatures which not only covers the fighting participants but also items such as priests and monks. According to the catalogue sheet these figures come in boxed sets broken down into the various fighting components.

The figures themselves offer some nice detail and posing. They should fit in nicely with most 25mm lines that cover this time period. Many of the figures come with separate weapons so that you can mix and match accordingly. Hopefully, Frontier will be represented at some of the historical shows around the country so that we will be able to see more of this fine line.
